Rep. Bobby Rush Dons "Hoodie" on House Floor

Democratic Republic of Bobby Rush, Illinois, was asked to leave the House floor Wednesday after taking off his jacket to reveal a hooded sweatshirt, also referred to as the "hood", which then went on a rush to place over their heads in protest against the killing Trayvon Martin in Florida.

"Racial profiling has to stop," said Rush, he took off his jacket. "Just because someone is wearing a hooded hooligan does not make them."

Greg Harper, R-Miss., Presiding officer of the house, repeatedly hit the gavel before citing clause 5, rule 17, which prohibits the wearing of hats in the chamber.

"Dressing up hood is not in accordance with this rule," said Harper, who asked the Sergeant at Arms to enforce the ban.

Martin's parents appeared on Capitol Hill Tuesday with several members of the Congressional Black Administrative Committee, including fever, who called for the arrest of George Zimmerman.
