Patriots sign receivers Lloyd, Gonzalez

Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd is headed by the New England Patriots, who led the team with a deep threat to the already powerful offense to complete.

The 30-year-old on Saturday agreed to a deal with the team, according to ESPN sources. Details of the contract were not disclosed, but NFL.com reported it was a three-year contract worth $ 12 million.

Lloyd led the league with 1,448 meters to receive in 2010 for the Denver Broncos, catching passes of 77 and 11 of them for touchdowns.

He was traded to the St. Louis Rams last season after the Broncos switched to Tim Tebow at quarterback.

Lloyd 51 receptions for 683 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games was with the Rams.

The move will reunite with Lloyd Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who his head coach in Denver.

The duo also worked together during a short period McDaniels' Rams as offensive coordinator last season.

Lloyd gives the Patriots their first legitimate deep threat since Randy Moss was traded during the 2010 season. He was also the second receiver signed by the Patriots on Saturday, after former Colts wideout Anthony Gonzalez.

The 27-year-old Gonzalez was a first round draft pick in 2007 from Ohio State. In five seasons with the Colts, he had 99 receptions for 1,307 yards and seven touchdowns, but was plagued by injuries throughout his career. He is active for only 11 games since the 2008 season.

Gonzalez missed all but the first game of 2009 and all but two races in 2010 with knee injuries. He has a private function in eight games last year.

New England's All-Pro receiver Wes Welker is a free agent and the Patriots gave him the franchise tag, meaning that they pay compensation if anyone signs Welker.

ESPN reported that the Patriots also agreed to a deal with former Raiders defensive end Trevor Scott.
