Petersen out as a candidate for the Bruins ' job

Boise State coach Chris Petersen is no longer a candidate for the UCLA football job, according to people familiar with the situation who was not authorized to speak on the topic.

Petersen has been a goal at UCLA officials after Rick Neuheisel was fired Monday as coach of Bruins.

UCLA Petersen offered a contract that will pay him nearly $ 4-million per season, plus nearly $ 3 million an assistant coach.

Petersen, who has a record of 71-6 at Boise State, decided to stay at Boise State for lifestyle reasons. He has refused any other university in the past, including one offered $ 3-million from Stanford last year, for the same reason.
