Eddie Long taking time off from Ga. megachurch

Megachurch leader Bishop Eddie Long said Sunday he is taking time off to focus on his family after his wife filed for divorce.

Long spokesman Art Franklin, said the new Birth Missionary Baptist Church, said the head of the church during church services to continue to serve as lead pastor of a church just outside Atlanta in Lithonia. But Long said he needs to leave.

Franklin declined to say how long the pastor of the church will be creative. She said that she and her family long, "asked for privacy and sensitivity of the family."

Man Long, Vanessa Long, filed for divorce Dekalb County Court of Appeals on Thursday to end its 21-year marriage to beleaguered Prime Minister. The church sent a press release Friday morning, said Vanessa Long plans to withdraw the complaint but the attorney said later in the day when he changed his mind.

In its petition, Vanessa Long stated that marriage is "irretrievably broken" and that "there is no hope for reconciliation between the parties." He asked the court for temporary and permanent maintenance and attorneys' fees and equitable sharing of family property and family.

"Vanessa and I are working together seek God's will under the current circumstances," Eddie Long said in a written statement.

According to the divorce, the couple "who now live in a bona fide state separation."

The division has more than one year after allegations last year that Eddie has long used his position of spiritual authority and luxurious lifestyle to raise four young male sex. Eddie Long settled the case, but I never knew of any violations.

Details of the settlement were not disclosed.

The allegations drew national attention, Long reflects on his international reputation and service interruption.

I am married March 10, 1990. The couple had three children together, and has one child from a previous marriage for long.
