President Obama airs new TV ad in Virginia

President Obama began airing a new TV ad in Virginia.

The 30-second ad, entitled "succeed," touts a revival of the auto industry that the ad says contributed to the economic recovery of economic security for middle class families.

"The decision to intervene with the auto industry was not popular," Obama says in the ad. "But I was convinced that was the right thing to do, because it was not only the million jobs that were at stake. It was also a part of what built our middle class, creating products stamped with the words" Made in America. "What happened in Detroit can happen in many communities when American innovation with the best workers in the world, we can succeed."

Republican candidate Mitt Romney's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
