A trial over child support battle between Linda Evangelista and her ex-boyfriend, Francois-Henri Pinault, have begun Thursday, May 3 in Manhattan Family Court. In the trial, lawyers Evangelista stated that her husband now actress Salma Hayek suggested that the supermodel had to get an abortion.
Attorney William Beslow said that after "some initial happiness" after learning of pregnancy Evangelista in 2006, Pinault "said he hoped he would end the pregnancy." The lawyer continued to note that when the model 46-years said that he would keep the baby, 49 years old French business tycoon "made very clear" that he was not interested in supporting the child.
Pinault himself took the stand on Thursday and said he was "not involved in the decision to have a baby." Chief executive of PPR and Evangelista added that he only spent about seven days together during the four months of their relationship. When asked whether he believed the model had been accidentally pregnant, he replied, "Well, he can not answer that, but I presume."
Testifying in English, additional Pinault said, "He told me that if I do not want to get involved in raising a child or parent living with and being together, he will understand, and he will take care of the child." He went on to share, "I told him that I would recognize a baby ... and I will take my responsibility."
During testimony, Pinault first admitted receiving a request from the child support Evangelista in 2007. "I received a demand. That does not make sense, I make a game," he said, adding that he got an answer from him until she sued him in August 2011. He admitted, however, that he did not contribute anything until later said, "I would not pay the money I did not ask."
Pinault's lawyer, David Aronson, told the court that a business person, who has a daughter with Hayek, are willing to support the 5-year son with Evangelista, Augustin, but not the model. When the lawyer said that the $ 46,000-digit month Evangelista was looking for in child support payments "simply ridiculous", model release frustration and his lawyer insisted that the figure was inaccurate.
